GARY BRUNTON – Contrebasse
Born in Burnley, England, in 1968, double bassist Gary Brunton has been based in France since 1989. After studying double bass with such prestigious musicians as Ray Brown, Gary Peacock, Dave Holland, Pierre Michelot and Thierry Barbé for classical double bass, he soon began performing in France. Long a sought-after sideman, he is also a composer and arranger. He has performed in numerous groups with musicians such as Edouard Ferlet, with whom he won the soloist prize at the Concours de la Défense in 1996. He toured with American singer Sheila Jordan, recording “Believe in Jazz” in 2003. In 2002, he founded his own group, “Brunt’Off”, recordeding the album “French Cricket”, to great acclaim from the press and musicians alike. In 2007, he formed a large ensemble, “Pee Bee”, recording four albums, including “Dolce Vita” and “Or not to be”, concerts at Scène Nationale les Gémeaux (Sceaux) in 2017 and 2021. Since 2019, he has been highly active as a composer and band leader, with the support of Juste une Trace label, recording 6 albums of his compositions including Night Bus and Second Trip with Bojan Z & Simon Goubert (Down Beat 4****, CHOC Jazzmag). EMMA RAWICZ – Tenor Saxophone
A finalist in the ‘BBC Young Jazz Musician’ competition, she has recorded two albums under her own name, ‘Encantation’ and ‘Chroma’. She has performed at the ‘Jazz Cafe’ and ‘Ronnie Scotts’ in London, where she resides. Concerts at the London Jazz Festival and the Berlin Philharmonic.
LEA CIECHELSKI – Alto Saxophone, flute
Best soloist at the ‘Euroradio Jazz’ competition in Marciac, winner of ‘Jazz Migration’ with ‘Prospectus’, she is currently ‘associate artist’ at Le Petit Faucheux in Tours. She performs with Surnatural Orchestra as well as with the ONJ of Frédéric Maurin.
BENJAMIN GARSON – Guitar
A multidisciplinary artist, while studying guitar at the CNSM in Paris, he explores rock, jazz, and contemporary improvisation in all its forms. Crossing stylistic boundaries, he develops a unique sound on the guitar. He holds a master’s degree in sound engineering. Concerts at the Cité de la Musique and the Munich Philharmonic. Performance with the ONJ, the Ensemble Intercontemporain.
SIMON GOUBERT – Drums
The first drummer to receive the Django Reinhardt Prize from the Académie du Jazz. He has recorded over eighty albums, including nine under his own name. He has performed with Martial Solal, Dave Liebman, Steve Grossman, Magma…
