HARMONIC PERMANENT DRIVE

HARMONIC PERMANENT DRIVE

Harmonic Permanent Drive” is an ingenious transmission system that uses harmonious principles to guarantee fluid, continuous and precise movement. Often associated with cutting-edge technologies such as robotic arms, it embodies a perfect balance between control and finesse.
Beyond this technical description, the name resonates with a musical ambition: to offer a fluid, harmonious and avant-garde sound experience, where each note is part of a precise emotional mechanism. A transmission, in short, between artist and listener, without interruption or misstep.

Led by guitarist/vocalist Éric Martin (We Insist!), Harmonic Permanent Drive is a visionary quartet that fuses indie rock, noise and indus influences.
Comprising Syn-Anton (ex-Treponem Pal) on machines and vocals, Aurélien Esquivet (Sala Bestia, ex-Desicobra) on bass, and Étienne Gaillochet (We Insist!, Zarboth, Mule Jenny) on drums and backing vocals, the band has a sound of great intensity, a constant tension between organic and synthetic. With short and dark texts, in English, sometimes close to the haiku or mantra, some will see the shadow of 31 Knots or rough riffs reminiscent of Jesus Lizard, while others will be transported by evocative atmospheres of Coil.

Éric Martin – guitar, vocals
A guitarist from Normandy, Éric Martin got his start in various local bands before co-founding the group We Insist! in the late 1990s. With this group, he released 7 albums and performed hundreds of times on French and international stages.

Syn-Anton – machines, vocals
A polymorphous artist, Syn-Anton explores a wide range of genres, from ambient and noise to post-rock, indus, electronica and folk. His solo albums, Matières Premières and Manolo on Juliet, won accolades at the Qwartz Electronic Music Awards.
An eclectic collaborator, he has worked with the Philharmonie de Paris, Cinémas93, Treponem Pal, Von Magnet, Norscq, Ann Hamilton, Julie Legrand, Deux point Deux, Gyomh, Vasco Araujo, Krzystof Wodiczko, E.1531, Camille Mutel, Okarukas and Rhys Chatham.

Aurélien Esquivet – bass
A key player on the Paris noise scene, Aurélien Esquivet is a prolific guitarist and bassist. He has played in a host of bands including School Bus Driver, Made In Canada, Desicobra, Cohaagen, WSM, Radiant and the ever-active Sala Bestia, where he continues to explore the boundaries of sound with remarkable intensity and creativity.

Étienne Gaillochet – drums, backing vocals
Parisian drummer, singer and multi-instrumentalist Étienne Gaillochet has been a mainstay of the group We Insist! since its inception, contributing to 7 albums and hundreds of concerts in France and abroad. He is also a member of the Zarboth, Perio and Blair et le peuple de gauche projects, and composes music for dance shows such as La Ligne Pointillée. He is currently a member of Mule Jenny, along with two musicians from Lysistrata.
