Prude ears and conformists, go your way because it is TWO of BAGDAD RODEO. The comic tone and the rejection of political correctness are omnipresent. The lyrics are little jewels of acid humor inspired by reality. There are on this rock album very different compositions and atmospheres but each time very accurate and neat.
Male/female relationships are one of the topics addressed by the combo, notably in “J’Aime Pas Les Filles”. In this title, the young ladies are described as beings who “always eat light and piss off with their weight when the summer approaches” or who “think only of getting married like all their even more stubborn friends”. While the “guys” are equipped with an “atrophied brain and a dick to decide”, “a pair of well-hung balls and a left hand to scratch them”. The themes of the couple’s life (“The Ideal Couple”), religion (“My Friend Jesus”) or the harms of smoking (“The Man With the Cigarette”) are also the target of the criticisms sung by BAGDAD Rodeo.
On the album, we go from very dancing songs (‘Quand Je Serai Mort’), on the edge of dance, to songs that would not make some metal bands blush (‘BAGDAD Rodeo’, ‘Le Nouveau Millénaire’, ‘La Balayette’), through songs flirting with pop, rockabilly, country or punk. It is therefore a rock with multiple figures where the guitar and the devastating riffs have the pride. Note many sounds, the intervention of the piano, brass or choirs. Shanka from No One Is Innocent is directing TWO.
