MESSAGE FROM GARY BRUNTON:

Dear friends, jazz enthusiasts, and lovers of beautiful sound,
Following the magnificent adventures of Night Bus at Spacecraft, the time has come to open a brand-new chapter and make a dream come true. For this new trio project, I wanted to return to the very source of my inspiration: New York, where the greatest jazz musicians I admire have recorded, and where I met pianist Jeremy Manasia in 1992.
With Jeremy on piano and the incredible Charles Goold on drums, I’ve created a new repertoire. And to immortalize this music, we went all out: we recently recorded at the absolute sanctuary of jazz, the legendary Rudy Van Gelder (RVG) studio in New Jersey.
For over five decades, this studio has been the go-to spot for the biggest names in jazz, recording monumental albums by John Coltrane (A Love Supreme), Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Sonny Rollins, and many others.
The studio’s large volume and architectural design provided a rich natural reverb that is the hallmark of many Blue Note recordings.
As you’ve probably guessed or already know, recording at Van Gelder Studio is the ultimate dream for every jazz musician. Now, I want to share that dream with you. Thank you!
FLYING OVER NEW YORK: Releasing November 20, 2026
Pre-orders will be shipped in mid-October. Gary Brunton can deliver your order in person if you choose to attend the conference in Paris or the Paris area.

Why this crowdfunding campaign?
A session like this, steeped in history and emotion, cannot exist solely on streaming platforms. This music was conceived, performed, and recorded to resonate on a 33-rpm vinyl record and a CD. Vinyl is the only format capable of faithfully reproducing the unique acoustics of the Van Gelder studio and paying tribute to the work of the entire team. But producing a limited-edition vinyl record involves significant production costs for an independent project.
That’s where you come in.
By pre-ordering your copy today, you become much more than just a listener: you become magicians and angels—people who bring joy and share it with others. Your direct support will enable us to fund the specialized mastering, pressing, and production of an exclusive vinyl edition.

The Trio: the energy of the “Big Apple”
Gary Brunton (double bass) is joined by two leading American musicians on the current scene. If you don’t know much about Gary, click here.
Jeremy Manasia (Piano): The driving force behind this ensemble, his playing blends bebop roots with Zen spirituality. He brings a narrative depth to Gary’s compositions.
Jeremy has performed worldwide with great masters such as Gary Bartz, Al Foster, Jimmy Heath, Eddie Gomez, and Louis Hayes. He has collaborated with Jimmy Cobb, Willie Jones III, and Peter Bernstein, and has been a member of Javon Jackson’s band for over ten years. He can be seen regularly on NYC’s legendary stages: the Village Vanguard, Smalls, Mezzrow, Smoke, Dizzy’s, and the Iridium.
A finalist in prestigious competitions (Thelonious Monk, Great American Jazz Piano), he studied with mentors such as Barry Harris, Harold Danko, and piano “guru” Sophia Rosoff. As a teacher at the Manhattan School of Music, he blends Barry Harris’s harmonic approach with a philosophy inspired by over 20 years of practicing Zen Buddhism. A native of Staten Island, he began playing the piano at age seven with a focus on classical music before discovering his passion for jazz in high school.
Charles Goold (Drums): The son of saxophonist Ned Goold, he brings a fresh energy to the stage, blending modern hard bop with the traditional rhythms of his Haitian heritage.
Charles is one of the most active drummers of his generation in New York. A graduate of the Juilliard School, he has performed with the jazz elite, including Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra. His debut album, Rhythm In Contrat, was critically acclaimed (The New York Times) and widely streamed on platforms such as TSF Jazz and Spotify. His second album, Triptych Lespri, delves deeper into Haitian rhythms with an ensemble of musicians from the New York diaspora. His version of “Caravan” has already surpassed 500,000 streams.
