A sound explorer. As a multifaceted musician, Courant d’air (aka Célestine de Williencourt) approaches the voice as a total instrument—a malleable material that intertwines with the concert flute, the kaval (Balkan flute), and electronic textures.
Solo on stage with her synthesizer and looper, she carves out an organic universe born of improvisation and intuition. Her music, at the crossroads of alternative pop, chanson, and jazz, draws inspiration from artists such as Björk and Camille. Between haunting rhythms and poetic breaths, Courant d’air invites us into a state of perpetual motion: one that strays from the beaten path to celebrate the freedom of the moment.

Courant d’Air’s debut album, Virevol (slated for release in September 2026), carries in its name a promise of perpetual motion. A fleeting, invented word, it embodies that suspended moment when one decides to stray from the beaten path to embrace the unknown. Through ten original compositions, the artist unfolds a unique universe where the voice becomes, in turn, an instrument, a whisper, and a touch of delicacy.
An architecture between the intimate and the wild
The album is a construction of contrasts. Courant d’Air has infused it with her doubts, her convictions, and a safety-net-free creativity, nourished by the bold worlds of Björk, Camille, or Leïla Martial. The instrumentation favors the organic: flutes intertwine with percussion, while synthesizers provide an ethereal, pop, naive, and joyful texture.
The album unfolds through a precise sensory progression:
Opening and Stripping Back: It all begins with “Chaoskin“, where skin becomes “chaos” and “stormy beauty”—a raw declaration of identity. This is followed by “Quand vient l’orage” and the intimacy of “Inside our house“, where mist is seen playing peacefully behind the windowpane. This first phase culminates with “Mise à nue“, a moment of absolute vulnerability where doubt ceases, making way for a “headlong” leap.
Strength and Blossoming: The heart of the album beats with “Endurance“, the first single born from looper improvisations, celebrating a “sail so thin” and a “golden breath.” This is a time of resilience leading to the vitality of “Celle qui fleurit“. The reflection deepens with “Mémoire pleine“, a touching portrait of a “restless girl” born to feel the passage of time, carrying within her an overflowing garden.
Movement and Final Ignition: The energy surges again with “Sous la pluie“, an invitation to sow “furrows in the fleeing water” to the applause of the elements. The path grows steeper with “A Walk through the storm“, reminding us that nothing replaces the experience of one’s own trajectory, even amidst the squalls. Finally, the album ends in the radiance of “Ce qui flamboie“, a luminous manifesto urging us to “multiply the sparks” and feed the bonfires, for this inner flame never betrays.
A Manifesto for the Moment
In a world of perpetual upheaval, Virevol asserts itself as a space of freedom. It is an homage to the ephemeral, to the beauty of the “now,” and to art’s capacity to offer us shelter. Between solar pulsations and dreamlike horizons, Courant d’air signs a singular work here—a first chapter that is only just beginning, yet already resonates with a sense of clarity.
