As a multifaceted musician, Courant d’air (aka Célestine de Williencourt) approaches the voice as a total instrument—a malleable material that intertwines with the concert flute, the kaval (Balkan flute), percussion and electronic textures. Virevol is a firts album, a real sound explorer for curious.
Solo on stage with her synthesizer and looper, she carves out an organic universe born of improvisation and intuition. Her music, at the crossroads of alternative pop, chanson, and jazz, draws inspiration from artists such as Björk and Camille. Between heady rhythms and poetic breaths, Courant d’air invites to leave the beaten track to celebrate the freedom of the moment.

Courant d’air’s debut album, titled «Virevol» (released in September 2026), carries in its name a promise of escape and freedom. A made-up, fleeting word, it embodies that suspended moment when one decides to leave the beaten path behind and embrace the unknown. Through ten original compositions, the artist unfolds a unique universe where the voice alternates between instrument and whisper.
A structure that balances the intimate and the wild
The album is a construction of contrasts. Courant d’air has infused it with her doubts, her convictions, and a creativity without a safety net, nourished by the daring worlds of Björk, Camille, and Leïla Martial. The voice, the guiding thread, leads us through ambient tracks, intimate songs, and others that are more luminous. It opens a dialogue between organic instruments—stubborn breaths, flutes, and percussion—and electronic textures where the synthesizer seems to take on a life of its own.
The album unfolds according to a precise sensory progression.
From minimalism to openness: It all begins with “Chaoskin,” a strange tale of a being with mutating skin, a raw declaration of identity. This is followed by “Quand vient l’orage” and then the intimacy of “Inside our house,” where a person despairs of ever being able to leave their home to join the mist playing peacefully behind the window. This first phase culminates with “Mise à nue,” a moment of absolute vulnerability where one stops doubting to throw oneself ‘headlong’ into the unknown: “so close to you, I no longer doubt.”
Strength and blossoming. The heart of the album beats with “Endurance,” the first single born from a looper, which celebrates the strengths we carry within ourselves. It is a time of resilience that leads to the vitality of “Celle qui fleurit,” a song of emancipation. The reflection deepens with “Mémoire pleine,” a touching portrait of a “restless girl” endowed with an infinite memory that merges with an overflowing garden.
The movement and the final blaze. The energy picks up again with “Sous la pluie,” a childlike invitation to come dance to the applause of the elements. The path grows steeper with “A Walk through the Storm,” a quest to find one’s own way through a hostile landscape reminiscent of Alain Damasio’s «La Horde du Contrevent». Finally, the album concludes in the warm radiance of “Ce qui flamboie,” a manifesto fueled by hope that urges us to “multiply the sparks” and stoke the bonfires to bring about connection, for these moments that bind us together are “priceless.”
A Manifesto for the Moment
In a world in constant upheaval, Virevol asserts itself as a space of freedom. It is a tribute to the ephemeral, to the beauty of the “now,” and to art’s ability to offer us a space for expression. Between solar rhythms and dreamlike horizons, Courant d’air presents a singular work here—a first chapter that has only just begun, yet already resonates as an undeniable truth.
