Who is Thibault Renard ?

Thibault Renard is a trumpeter, composer, teacher, and oenologist whose life and art are woven with intensity and unexpected intersections.

The Roots of Sound: Blues and Philosophy
His musical vocation took on an almost mythical quality in 1981, at the age of five. Just hours after a car accident, he found himself in a living room filled with pearly guitars and purring amplifiers. This moment of electricity and blues was the founding shock that sealed his sonic universe.

After earning a Master’s degree in Philosophy, he dove heart and soul into music. He established his own projects exploring blues, funk, and jazz, and became a sought-after collaborator on the international scene. He has worked with Tiken Jah Fakoly, Alpha Blondy, Admiral T, and Ray Lema. His pen has also left its mark: he contributed to writing major tracks, notably the theme for Hard Twelve for Beat Assailant.

Nomadic Periods and Crossover Projects
His creative spirit took him beyond borders. In 2009, while based in London, he founded The Popables, a daring crossover project blending pop and jazz.

Returning to Paris in 2013, he combined creation and transmission by teaching composition at the Conservatoire Régional. He continued to explore new fusions, particularly with Toumaï Jazz in 2016, where he married jazz with Oriental music. Surprising his listeners, he released an electro album in 2018 under the name Tom Wheeler (God Is A Robot).

The Mysterious Link Between Sound and Flavour
In the meantime, another passion ripened: oenology. Having become a wine expert, Thibault Renard bridged his two worlds. Passionate about sharing knowledge, he designs unique experiences where he unites sounds and flavours during musical wine tastings. 🎶🍇

Quiet Blue: A Grand Cru
In 2024, Thibault Renard felt an urgent need to return to the essence. He recorded Quiet Blue, a stripped-down acoustic album, captured in a single day with only two takes per track. He describes it as a “grand cru,” born of the air, the wood, and time. Release date : october 10, 2025

He was surrounded by exceptional musicians for this recording: David Sauzay (soprano and tenor saxophones), Daniel Gassin (piano), Mauro Gargano (double bass), Andrea Michelutti (drums).

Thibault Renard is a complete artist who infuses his philosophical intensity and his love of beautiful things into every note and every sip.

A FLIGHT PLAN FOR SPACECRAFT

Gary Brunton, on double bass and compositions, presents a dream team to perform ‘SPACECRAFT’, an intergenerational and multicultural jazz creation. With Simon Goubert on drums, saxophonists Emma Rawicz and Léa Ciechelski, and guitarist Benjamin Garson. The quintet takes us on an expedition into space, offering a modern sound, virtuosity, listening, and delicacy in service of the composer.

As well as evoking speed and adventure, SPACECRAFT represents the universe imagined by Gary Brunton. The repertoire features charismatic melodies and at times employs silence, exploring the unknown through inspired improvisations. SPACECRAFT also stands for Craft, meaning highly specialized work and instrumental mastery, acquired through constant dedication, passion and daily practice. SPACECRAFT: 11 original compositions for a space journey with the sound of Jazz.

A Shrine in Your Home, the ballad

With this new title available for streaming on March 7, 2025, the trio Gary Brunton, Daniel Beaussier and Célestine De Williencourt unveils a little more the album LOOK NORTH (released on March 28, 2025).

A unique musical journey that evokes the wide-open spaces of Northern lands (Island, Scotland…) with a strong vocal presence, performing original works and inspired contemporary improvisations. Through a narrative and lyrical approach to jazz creation. This song is a tribute to pianist Michel Graillier: “He shared Chet Baker’s natural gift of ballad playing, musical beauty, good taste and effective use of space,” recalls Gary Brunton.

Gary Brunton, double bassist and tabla player, has forged a solid career for himself in France. An acclaimed composer and arranger, he has collaborated with such iconic figures as Sheila Jordan and Bojan Z.
Daniel Beaussier, master of the winds, explores a vast range of instruments. His English horn and clarinet playing enriches the deep harmonies of Coldstream.
Célestine De Williencourt, a passionate vocalist and flautist, breathes a singular, poetic energy into the mix, between vocal improvisation and timbral exploration.

A Shrine in Your Home is available now on all platforms, and soon on the LOOK NORTH album.
